Redbud assisted living offers personalized assistance, supportive services and compassionate care in a professionally managed and carefully designed community setting. It’s the perfect alternative for seniors who can no longer live on their own at home, yet don’t need 24 hour, complex medical supervision. CHCS provides emergency treatment and non-invasive diagnostic testing for cardiac patients. Our cardiac diagnostic labs in Onaga, Holton, and St. Marys enable physicians to perform non-invasive testing (EKGs, Holters, Event monitors, Thallium GXT, and Echocardiograms) that assist in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac disease.

When hospitalized, patients and families often need support. Community HealthCare System has a team of social workers and nurses to help patients and family members deal with financial, social and emotional problems that relate to illness or hospitalization. Members of this department assist with finding healthcare services needed at discharge such as equipment, home health services or long term care, and answers to insurance questions.

Durable Medical Equipment800-356-3029
We provide a wide range of home medical equipment to help improve the quality of life for patients with special needs. Our homecare specialists work with the patient and caregiver, evaluate the home and provide the appropriate equipment as directed by the doctor’s treatment plans. Trained staff deliver the equipment, set it up for safe and easy use by the patient and provide service or maintenance when required. Product lines include wheelchairs and walkers, hospital beds and commodes, bathroom safety items and diabetic testing supplies, dressings and nutritional supplements. We understand that accidents and medical emergencies occur unexpectedly. These events can be stressful not only for you, but for family and friends too. So, it's comforting to know there is a professional medical team in your community trained to respond at a moment's notice. We have physicians and mid-levels on call and triage rooms staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
CHCS works closely with the local ambulance services in Pottawatomie, Jackson, Nemahal and Marshall counties as well as Lifestar Air Ambulance to provide rapid emergency care and transport for critical adult and pediatric patients.

Birthing center rooms come complete with the comforts of home and the security of a hospital. Rooms feature atrium windows, comfortable beds and furnishings and a private whirlpool tub. We offer childbirth classes, lactation support and in hospital instructions on the care of your newborn. The clinical laboratory is approved by the College of American Pathologists, providing 24-hour services in the following areas: Blood Bank, Chemistry, Microbiology, Coagulation, Hematology, Serology, Blood banking, Special Chemistry, Pathology and Urinalysis. All locations feature specimen collection and onsite lab services with weekday courier service.

Diagnostic radiology services offered range from general diagnostic radiology, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine Testing, (including mobile PET/CT imaging), Ultrasound (General and Vascular), Computerized Tomography (CT) Special Procedures, and Vascular Lab and bone densitometry. Women's Health services include analog mammography in an ACR accredited, FDA certified facility. We feature a web-based Picture Archive and Communications System (PACS) that enables physicians to view high quality images anytime and from anywhere.

CHCS Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine program is committed to utilizing a multidisciplinary approach to provide inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services dedicated to enhancing the patient’s ability to attain their maximum functional goals. Our facilities include gyms, private treatment rooms, central heated indoor pool, and equipment to meet a variety of clinical needs.

The Respiratory Care Department is staffed with specially trained and licensed Respiratory Therapists able to assist physicians by providing diagnostic treatment and management services to persons with respiratory diseases. We provide inpatient and outpatient care that includes bronchodilator, aerosol and oxygen therapies; airway clearance/ bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, oximetry, patient assessments and a full range of pulmonary function studies, and spirometry.

Because caregiving can be a full-time and often exhausting role, CHCS offers respite care, or short-term scheduled stays where patients who are normally cared for at home can be accepted as temporary residents in one of our facilities in Centralia, Onaga or St. Marys. Respite care relieves caregivers from their day-to-day caregiving responsibilities, giving them time to tend to family or work obligations without worrying about the care of their loved one. As a result, caregivers often return with renewed energy and a fresh perspective that enables them to provide higher quality care for their loved one. It may be for just a few hours or several days in length. Respite may be planned in advance or made available to assist in a crisis/emergency situation.

Skilled Care generally is available for a short time after a hospitalization. Skilled care is health care given when a patient needs skilled nursing or rehabilitation staff to manage, observe and evaluate their care. Medicare will cover this service if certain conditions are met.

Spiritual Care Healing of the mind, body and spirit is important at CHCS. Clergy from the area churches are available to provide emotional and pastoral support to patients and visitors at your request. Community Hospital Onaga's Chapel is located in the Southwest corner of the hospital. The chapel serving the healthcare facility in St. Marys is located in the main entrance of the long term care facility. Centralia has a quiet room located immediately off the front lobby. Bothe St Marys and Centralia feature periodic religious services with local clergy. All chapels are open for private prayer, meditation and quiet time.

Community Hospital, Onaga/St. Marys performs In and outpatient surgeries and diagnostic procedures . The surgical staff understand a patient’s apprehension when it comes to surgery. The staff is available to answer questions, prepare the patient for surgery and assist with post surgery care to ensure a quick recovery. Anesthesia services are provided by certified nurse anesthetists.

The Wound Center is designed to give patients the tools they need to manage their wounds and prevent future wounds. Patients are either referred by physicians or make the appointment themselves. Evaluations include a comprehensive physical, a review of medical history, wound evaluation, and diagnostic tests to help us set up an individual treatment plan. Additional consultations with specialty services are determined by patient needs. Because many patients with wound care needs have chronic diseases, we place an emphasis on nutrition and developing healthy habits.
